YOUR HOSTS
Geoff Collinson
Aeyons Founder
After 10 years as principal horn with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and guest principal with many other orchestras in Australia and overseas, Geoff found his true calling as a teacher and was tenured as Head of Brass at The University of Melbourne for over 6 years.
10 years ago, the digital world provided opportunities to solve problems of geographical isolation in music education and Geoff used this opportunity to leave my tenured position.
Geoff says, “I have never been more creative than through solving business problems.”
What he learned by being a musician about overcoming fears on the concert stage, embracing the preparation required, and how focusing on his passion for knowledge quelled his negative thoughts, has taken him to where he is today – at an intersection of the creative world and the business world, and in a unique position to help others on their journey.
Gérard Patacca
Aeyons CEO
Gérard Patacca is on a mission to make instrumental music education more accessible to everyone. A professional French Horn player and teacher before moving into management, Gérard is passionate about the importance of music education.
As a student he benefited enormously from membership of the Canberra and Australian Youth Orchestras and became the 1987 Canberra School of Music Graduate of the Year. He was offered study grants from the Australian and German Governments, studied in Germany with renowned teachers and played with the Jeunesses Musicales World Youth Orchestra and the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra. Professional engagements followed with opera and symphonic orchestras such as the State Orchestra of Baden in Karlsruhe and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Saarbrücken; he was also a member of Helmuth Rilling’s Bach Collegium Stuttgart. After his return to Australia, he held contracts with six of Australia’s professional orchestras and taught at the Sydney Conservatorium.
Pursuing a role in management, Gérard completed a graduate leadership program with the Federal Government. He joined the management team of the Opera Australia Orchestra in 2007, becoming OA’s General Manager, Orchestra in 2011 until joining Aeyons in 202

“The Aeyons technology establishes a connection to my students that feels REAL. Often continents away, it sounds like they are playing in front of me. Aeyons makes my online teaching as effective as working face to face.”
Daniel Röhn
Violin Soloist
“Drums and Cymbals are so complex in their harmonics and density that most platforms like Zoom can’t handle it. It just distorts! Somehow the Aeyons team have got around all of that.”
David Jones
Drums & Percussion Soloist
